Raku

is a technique of placing a hot piece of metal into a bin of organic material, sealing the lid and allowing the material to catch fire, marking and ‘contaminating’ the metal.

This gives the piece an aged, worn aesthetic that interests me. This technique could be used to enhance the reading of an artwork as timeworn and burdened.
